Why
Your Vitamins Don't Work - What
you don't know can cost you more than money, it can cost you your
health.
By Dr. Gary Knighton
0n June 20,2002, President
Bush launched his Healthier US initiative and said, "When
America and Americans are healthier our whole society benefits."
We all know we need vitamins and minerals to stay healthy, but
most of us don't get them from what we eat.
Vitamins are essential to improving your health, but I want to
share with you why many vitamin pills fail to benefit your body.
This information may shock you, but I argue not against the value
of vitamins, rather, against the questionable means of delivery
to get the vitamins to your body. In addition to exposing the
problem, I will offer the same solution that I use myself and
recommend to my family, friends, and patients.
Never would you consider eating cement, but if you take a "rich
in calcium" vitamin supplement fortified with calcium carbonate,
you do just that. Most vitamin pills contain questionable additives,
binders,
or fillers that may also be used to make cement and motor oil.
These toxic, indigestible ingredients are why most vitamins don't
work. Understanding what to look for when choosing a supplement
will help you avoid wasting money on useless vitamin pills.
Vitamin manufacturers make more money by using cheap ingredients
to increase shelf life, mask taste, and bind the ingredients together
in the pill. Fillers, coatings, and other ingredients make absorption
of the vitamins and minerals very difficult. And because product
labels can be deceptive or difficult to read, the average person
cannot understand what is really in the product.
As a Nutrition and Environmental Medicine specialist, Dr. Victoria
Buntine states, "Studies have shown that what is on the label
of a bottle is not necessarily what you get, and some vitamins
are
not even digestible." Many of these top-brand vitamin pills
contain toxic ingredients that can lead to harmful effects on
the body, especially when used over long periods.
What's Really In
There?
Calcium carbonate is common to most vitamin supplement pills in
order to offer calcium. Unfortunately, it may cause side effects
such as constipation, intestinal bloating, and gas according to
a report
by Dr. Barbara Apgar in the American Family Physician (October
15, 2000).
Another
example, Stannous chloride, is a metalized coating used to make
mirrors and coat glass bottles to make them stronger. It is also
used as a lubricating substance and even as an anti-sludge agent
in motor oil. In vitamin pills, stannous chloride is used as a
coating which greatly reduces absorption. Rashes or even lung
problems can result from constant exposure or ingestion, according
to the National Institutes of Health.
Laboratory-produced synthetic ingredients or animal-derived products
are also difficult for the body to process and may lead to potentially
negative side effects. Digestibility is the real issue, which
may contribute to why 50%of the people in the U.S. have nutrient
deficiencies (National Research Council).
Money Down The Drain
The main question I ask any patient is, "how much of
the actual vitamin pill are you really digesting?" The Physicians'
Desk Reference (2000 edition) states that the body can only absorb
about 10% of vitamins and minerals in pill form. This means that
for every $20 you spend on supplements, you flush about $18 of
it down the toilet (literally) in the form of very expensive stool.
"lf the
pill is compacted too tightly when it is manufactured, or if the
coating is too thick, it will pass through your system without
dissolving." - from "Vitamins: How to Shop Wisely"
(June 24, 2002) Los Angeles Times
Hard vitamin pills
are very difficult for the body to digest, making it tough to
obtain any of the useful nutrients from the pill. As evidence
of this, septic tanks and sewer systems collect thousands of pounds
of undigested vitamin and mineral pills on a regular basis.
An example of this is the sewer system in Tacoma, Washington,
which filters out more than 250,000 pounds of undigested pills
every six weeks. Do you really think you are getting your money's
worth with all those supplements?
Which Supplement
Works?
Hundreds of medical studies validate the fact that vitamins, minerals,
and antioxidants are essential to our lives and health, but if
they can't be absorbed into the body, the supplements cannot be
effective. Through extensive research, I found two key elements
that make it easier for the body to absorb nutrients.
The form of delivery
is the first main issue. While our bodies have difficulty absorbing
hard tablets and pills, liquid is the logical alternative because
the body is better equipped to absorb a Iiquid than a solid. A
supplement that begins absorbing on contact with the mouth (also
known as a sublingual supplement) allows for easier nutrient absorption.
The second important
component of a good supplement is the source of ingredients. If
the ingredients are synthetic or from animal sources, they may
be more difficult to digest, not to mention potentially harmful
to the body. Instead, nutrients must come from vegetarian based(plant)
sources because our bodies digest and process plant derived ingredients
with greater efficiency. A supplement that meets these conditions
will be the most effective for getting the necessary nutrients
to your body.
Doctor Recommended
In my own
practice, I recommend a 100% natural vegetarian liquid formula
packed with 211 essential vitamins, minerals, herbs, antioxidants,
fruits, vegetables, and other important nutrients in one
ounce, called Daily Complete.
I use Daily Complete
myself because it contains no synthetic additives or other un-natural
ingredients, and it delivers everything for optimal health and
vitality in just one ounce of liquid per day, producing almost
immediate results.
Keep It Simple
Convenience is one distinct advantage of Daily Complete, since
most people dread the thought of taking several pills each day.
With one simple ounce of the Daily Complete formula per day, you
replace several harsh supplement pills with one swallow of great
tasting liquid. Because it is so convenient, I find that consistent
use of Daily Complete is higher than with other supplements, which
helps people achieve the best results. It absorbs in seconds and
people notice a difference almost immediately. With most patients
concerned about the cost of supplements, Daily Complete is the
more effective and more affordable alternative. The average person
or family can replace their supplements with Daily Complete for
a fraction of what they pay now.
Complete Results
Several of my patients switched to Daily Complete and found the
benefits they didn't get with other supplements. For example,
a patient of mine with memory problems and low energy levels was
spending more than $100 per month for vitamin pills. I told him
to quit taking the pills and started him on Daily Complete. His
memory improved significantly, as well as his energy levels and
alertness. He noticed immediate improvement and it cost him far
less than what he was spending on all the supplements he used
before.
Another important aspect of Daily Complete is that it tastes great,
which is one of the biggest reasons why people love it and take
it on a consistent basis.
Another patient, plagued by low energy levels throughout the day,
started on the product and noticed results, as many patients do,
within 24 hours. One woman who came to me suffered from constant
colds and flu symptoms due to weak immune system function. With
the unique blend of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in Daily
Complete, her health improved dramatically, allowing her to return
to work faster and maintain her overall well being like never
before.
The list goes on and on.
Make The Wise Choice
I recommend Daily Complete to my patients with confidence. For
less than what you pay for a cup of coffee each day, you can enioy
the benefits of this truly amazing liquid supplement. Furthermore,
Daily Complete is one of the few all natural supplements listed
in the upcoming 2003 edition of the Physicians' Desk Reference
for Non-prescription Drugs and, Dietary Supplements (PDR). The
PDR has been the main source of every medical doctor and pharmacist
for the past 55 years when recommending products to patients.
Stop flushing your money down the toilet by using vitamin
pills that don't work. Daily Complete is the first product I've
ever endorsed because it is the first supplement that delivers
everything your body needs in the best way your body can absorb
it. I know that after 14 days of using Daily Complete, you also
will be impressed with the results.
